Crystal A. Proxmire is the founder of The Muskegon 115.  She considers Muskegon, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Houghton Lake home.  She graduated in 2001 from Grand Valley State with a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising and Public Relations.  Since the age of six she's been writing compulsively, with an especially strong interest in journalism, philosophy and psychology.  From news reporting, to advocacy, to short stories and literature, Proxmire's work generally focuses on four main goals:

1.  Destroying gender stereotypes

2.  Questioning the mental health industry

3.  Exposing media manipulation

4.  Encouraging self-actualization

In addition to writing, Proxmire also loves road trips, exploring, breaking into abandoned buildings, drawing, and reading.  She also volunteers at Affirmations and donates her creative efforts to other causes that she cares about.

Muskegon 115 Quarterly (2008- current)

Publisher of quarterly magazine aimed at increasing self-actualization.  This publication helps bring to light many individuals and causes as well as demonstrates Proxmire’s skills in publicity and writing.

 

FTM Sex & Relationship Project (2007- current)

Nationwide internet-based survey of FTMs and their partners for the purposes of compiling a Sex and Relationship guide based on the experiences of other couples, primary research and secondary research.  This involves data collection as well as promotion and writing.

 

End Alimony Now! (2006- current)

Completed communications plan, made suggestions for website and campaign, written radio and television ads, print ads, internet ads and other general promotional work.

 

Torrent of Words Writers Group (2005)

Created and managed group to encourage other writers.

 

Shoreline Inn & Suites (2004-2005)

Advertising design for botique-style hotel and affiliated Rafferty's Restaurant.

 

Hart Writers’ Group (2004- 2005)

Member, shared writing and helped other writers edit and critique their work.

Copy Center employee, helped customers with their documents, including business cards, type setting and other document production techniques.

Group coordinator and newsletter editor, managed support group meetings, increased membership and increased newsletter circulation to include doctors and other groups as well as victims.
